Our Chardonnays have been lightly wooded with French oak. Although initially tentative about ‘wooded whites’ we are very happy with the results. The delightful smoky vanilla and peach tones have lifted the Chardonnay into the ‘interesting and compelling’ classification.
The reds are blends of old favourites with lesser common varieties. We grow Shiraz, Carnelian and Cabernet Sauvignon and buy in regional blending varieties such as Tempranillo, Merlot, Grenache to make our popular, JRB*. Our reds, both varietals and blends, are robust, with full fruit , berry and spice intensity. The wines imply no pretensions or mysteries. Labels accurately detail the content to be explored. They’re honest reds and, by subtle use of oak, comfortable and very drinkable.
